Collection Spotlight

This collection features thirteen black-and-white photographs of the Armstrong-Fowler family of Franklin County, Alabama. Born in 1907, Arrie Gladys Armstrong was one of twelve siblings who worked the cotton fields near Red Bay. She married Andrew Fowler in 1932, and their six children also helped with cotton picking, often missing school each September.
