  • Curator of Public Programs

    The Alabama Department of Archives & History (ADAH) seeks an organized, team-oriented, and enthusiastic Curator of Public Programs. This is a full-time position in Montgomery and includes state benefits. The person in this role will develop and coordinate a wide range of programs for the department’s adult audiences, including public lectures, symposia, workshops, book talks, museum tours, and special events. At the direction of the Exhibits, Publications, and Programs Coordinator and lead exhibits curator, they will also assist with the development of and research for exhibits and publications in multiple formats.

  • State Records Center Archivist & State and Local Government Records Analyst

    The Alabama Department of Archives and History in Montgomery, Alabama, seeks a motivated, self-directed archivist for the department’s Records Management program. After an initial onboarding period, the archivist will spend several days a week handling the day-to-day operations at the State Records Center at 2745 Gunter Park Drive, a warehouse with 38,000 boxes of temporary state agency records.

    The archivist will spend the remaining time working as a State and Local Government Records Analysis at 624 Washington Avenue, devoting significant time to writing Records Disposition Authorities for state agencies, processing local government destruction notices and state annual RDA implementation reports, and assisting state and local agencies through phone calls, emails, and site visits answering questions about managing records.
